Official Coronation State Portrait News

For over a full year I’ve been working in a temporary studio at Clarence House, the Royal Residence in London, granted to me by the King and Queen for the singular purpose of completing the Official State Coronation Portrait of Queen Camilla.

For a year I have not been able to reveal anything about this painting but now I’m very happy to announce the unveiling on 06/05/2025 at the National Gallery in London in the presence of the King and Queen and a large group of press, curators and museum staff.

It was wildly unexpected and a huge honour to have received a request from Queen Camilla well before her Coronation to take on this commission. Uniquely, I have had plenty of time and multiple sittings with the Queen to make sure I have done all I can do. Now I must let the wind take it.

It will hang at the National Gallery in the Central Hall for one month and subsequently in July it will be hung permanently at Buckingham Palace in the one room open to the public every year for 3 months from July-October.
